Mark received his B.S. in Biology from Calvin College. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the Cell and Molecular Biology program while working in the lab of Dr. Sandra Z. Haslam in the department of Physiology.

Kai-Chun Chen

Kai-Chun Chen is from Taiwan. She received her B.S. in animal science from National Taiwan University, Taiwan. She is currently doctoral student in Dr. Wedemeyer´s lab. Her study focuses on the folding pathway of prion protein.

Wen-hsin Ku

Wen-hsin Ku received her BS ans MS degrees in Biology from National Taiwan
Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan. She currently works with Dr. Stephen
Schneider focusing on ionic mechanisms of spinal sensory integration.

Geou-Yarh Liou

Geou-Yarh Liou received her Master's degree from Department of Life Science at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Her study focused on the effects of MAP kinases signaling pathways induced by mutagens on DNA repair and mutagenesis in lung cancer cells derived from Taiwan local patients. Before enrolling MSU, she continued to devote herself in lung cancer research in National Taiwan University Hospital. Now she is pursuing her doctorate in Dr. Kathleen Gallo's lab.

Samuel Pappas

Samuel is currently in the BS/MS program in Physiology at Michigan State University, working in the laboratory of Dr. Keith Lookingland. Sam's research is focused on the characterization of dopamine distribution in the spinal cord and gender differences in dopamine content of the spinal cord, with the ultimate goal of creating a neurotoxin based murine model of restless legs syndrome.

Michaela Marina

I have received my B.S. in Biology and my Master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, both from the "Babes-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. After graduation I have worked in research concerning environmental protection and as a clinical laboratory biologist. This fall (2005) I will begin my Ph.D. in the Physiology Departament at Michigan State University.

Karen Schachter

Karen is from Santiago, Chile. She received her B.S. degree majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is currently working in the laboratory of Dr. Kathleen Gallo, Department of Physiology. Karen's research is focused in understanding the regulation of the protein kinase MLK through phosphorylation and how this affects its interactions with other signaling proteins in mammalian cells.

Theodore Towse
Theodore Towese received a B.S. degree and Master's degree in exercise science from the University of Massachusetts. He is currently a doctoral candidate working in the laboratory of Dr. Ronald Meyer.

Hui Wang

Hui Wang is from China. He received his B.S. and M.D. degree majoring in Clinical Medicine from China Medical University in 1999. Hui was accepted by the Department of Physiology of MSU into PhD program from the fall semester of 2005. His research advisor is Dr. James J. Galligan.
