Sharing academic experiences and perceptions with other students is an excellent strategy for supplementing the advising and tutorial services you'll get from faculty. Fellow students are most often reliable sources of up-to-date information. Many have just completed the courses in which you are about to enroll. Most are willing to give you their opinions and help you find courses and instructors that match your learning styles and academic needs.
Several years ago, undergraduates formed The Physiology Society. This is a student-lead group that brings in speakers, holds discussion groups related to applying to medical and other postgraduate schools, provides tips for completing applications, offers suggestions for appropriate behaviors in interviews, and helps in other ways. More recently, the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) formed an undergraduate chapter at Michigan State University. The Department of Physiology provides its faculty sponsor.
