This decision is best made in view of what applications you have for the technology. If plans for formal education end with graduation from the undergraduate program, then perhaps a general-level course that emphasizes the use of specific software is good enough. More is needed if there are plans for postgraduate medical or graduate training. PSL410, for example, was developed in the Department of Physiology specifically to help students apply mathematical, computer science and program writing skills to topics and problems in biology and medicine. Other courses offered in the Department of Computer Science might be more appropriate if someone is interested either in declaring a joint major in that field, or sees themselves involved primarily in computer-based disciplines, and less in the biological sciences. PSL410 is required unless your advisor has another recommendation.
